High standards were attained by all Houses in the Dramatic Competition when the school was entertained one afternoon in early April by four performances of "Make Believe". The pleasure of this occasion is rather debatable! Sitting through four performances of the same play can be trying and a wooden floor appears to become gradually harder as the afternoon progresses. We certainly did have to "Make Believe" but were helped immensely by such additions as cocoa-stained first formers representing dusky maidens.
The final order was 1. Guest, 2. Price, 3. Holgate, 4. Talbot.

The play for the House Dramatics was a stage adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland" which gave great scope to the producers' ingenuity in staging, and also provided parts for a large cast. Guest was unfortunate in that two Alices got tonsillitis, and Talbot's King of Hearts got Scarlet Fever on the day of the performance. The final order was Price, Guest, Holgate and Talbot.

More:
The Music Competition, which was adjudicated by Dr. Newell, H.M.I. was closely contested as usual, the final order being Price, Guest, Holgate and Talbot. Dr. Newell commented on the very high standard attained in all classes, and gave much encouragement to individual performers.
