Library 1940s (Under development)
| 1946-47 | |
| This year the borrowing of Library books has been extensive, the First Formers being especially enthusiastic. The books have been returned regularly, too, showing that reading is getting more popular. We have recently received a gift of a great number of books, both Fiction and Reference, from an Old Hilmian, Mr. A. E. Whittle, for which we are sincerely grateful. | |
| Mr. Eric Whittle now sends us "The Times Literary Supplement" and "Our Time", and we have added "Illustrated", "The Geographical Magazine'', "The Listener'', and various Esperanto periodicals to our weekly reading. The Upper Forms should note that "Hansard" is now available each week for matters of current interest. Now that the book situation is improving slightly we hope to get some really new Fiction by next term. With the ten guineas so kindly given by the Old Hilmians it is hoped to buy books of general interest in the near future. Winifred Griffiths. L.6A. Price. | |
